“What is Canada?”
“I would say, Home.”
That is Canada, in a word. Our living experience of the familiar, bonded through common cause and culture. Tested by conflict.
Yesterday was the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the CBC in 1936.
Enjoy this short video clip from the public broadcaster celebrating the anniversary:

Afterwards if you want to go down a rabbit hole, try the 30 minute podcast that I recorded with the Friends of Canadian Media’s host Raj Shoan, “What does the future of the CBC look like?”
Just a few months ago the Carney Liberals tabled a reduction to the CBC budget of $192 million. With so little attention given to such a massive cut, it feels like an insider’s assumption that the federal government will restore the funds in Thursday’s federal budget and declare cultural victory.
Let’s wait and see.
